United States Army & Navy Officer

Juan Adriatico

U.S. Army & Navy Chaplain Veteran | Combat Veteran | Military Officer | Spiritual Care & Leadership Professional

A Lifetime of Service, Faith, and Leadership

Juan Adriatico is a distinguished United States Army and Navy Chaplain veteran, former Army Captain, and Navy Lieutenant with 15 years of active-duty military service. Throughout his military career, he dedicated his life to supporting America's service members and their families through combat operations, spiritual leadership, crisis intervention, trauma counseling, and compassionate pastoral care.

Serving in some of the world's most challenging combat environments, Chaplain Adriatico provided spiritual, emotional, and psychological support to thousands of military personnel, including conventional Army forces, Special Forces personnel, military contractors, Sailors, Marines, and their families.

His military ministry was defined by an unwavering commitment to serving those who serve, particularly during moments of extraordinary sacrifice, uncertainty, grief, and hardship.

Combat Chaplaincy and Operational Leadership

As a United States Army Captain and Chaplain, Adriatico served in Iraq during combat operations, providing pastoral leadership and support to approximately 3,000 Soldiers and associated personnel.

While operating in hostile environments, he endured indirect fire, mortar attacks, rocket attacks, and the ongoing dangers of combat. Despite these threats, he remained committed to his responsibility as a noncombatant military chaplain, accompanying troops and providing spiritual care where it was needed most.

During his deployments, he participated in 67 combat patrols without carrying a weapon, demonstrating a profound commitment to both his religious calling and the service members entrusted to his care.

His combat service was recognized through the award of the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge, among other military decorations.

An Airborne-qualified paratrooper, Adriatico combined military discipline, operational experience, and pastoral compassion to serve military personnel across demanding and diverse environments.

His ministry included supporting grieving families, conducting memorial services for fallen Soldiers, providing confidential pastoral counseling, and helping service members navigate the psychological and spiritual challenges of war.

United States Navy Command Chaplain

Following his Army service, Adriatico continued his military career as a United States Navy officer and Command Chaplain in San Antonio, Texas.

Serving with Navy Medicine and its support command, he provided chaplaincy leadership and religious ministry support to an organization encompassing approximately 3,500 Sailors.

His responsibilities included spiritual care, crisis counseling, leadership consultation, family support, religious accommodation, and programs designed to strengthen the emotional and spiritual resilience of military personnel.

His ministry extended into hospital and clinical environments, including emergency departments, burn units, and trauma-care settings.

Throughout his career, Adriatico conducted more than 5,000 clinical and pastoral counseling sessions, supporting individuals and families facing traumatic injury, combat stress, bereavement, marital difficulties, sexual assault, suicidal crises, and other life-altering experiences.

Clinical Pastoral Care and Crisis Intervention

Adriatico completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), gaining specialized experience in trauma-center and hospital environments.

Continuing a Mission of Service

For Juan Adriatico, military chaplaincy was more than a profession. It was a calling grounded in faith, integrity, courage, compassion, and servant leadership.

From the battlefields of Iraq to the emergency rooms and hospital wards of military medical facilities, his mission remained consistent: to provide hope during suffering, strength during uncertainty, and spiritual care to those facing life's most difficult circumstances.

His extensive experience in military leadership, clinical pastoral care, crisis intervention, counseling, and organizational ministry provides a strong foundation for continued service in executive chaplaincy, healthcare spiritual care leadership, veterans' services, and organizational leadership.

His legacy of service reflects a lifelong commitment to faith, country, family, and the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

“The heart of a chaplain is not measured by the safety of the places he serves, but by his willingness to stand beside those who need him most.”
