Juan studied ballroom and swing dance through Arthur Murray at 13 and during college. He has also taught country western, salsa, and bachata Latin dance in Texas, Japan, Hawaii, Kansas, and Colorado as a instructor. He earned his personal trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Juan brings a broad international and cultural background shaped by travel, business, service, military service, dance and cross-cultural engagements. He has traveled throughout Japan, China, Guam, the Middle East, Central America, and across the United States.
